They are storing the “waste” in Floria, and setting policy to burn up oil at breakneck speeds. The US will have a corner on the Nuke market within two decades. DUH

    haha how so ive …
haha how so ive seen vids of actual nuclear waste in a mock trainwreck, which was a pretty nasty wreck btw, then it was set on fire with no leakage. its not like cartoons where they transport it in a barrel and is prone to leakage. true it would have been devastating without proper safety to prevent it. i would think by now we are smarter than that

    In France, They …
In France, They recycle their spent fuel rods, and reuse them until there is almost nothing left. The United States should do that too, Instead of burying them. I don’t know why you guys are so paranoid about nuclear waste… There are thousands of things all around you that emit radiation. Even down to just a simple bag of fertilizer. It doesn’t take much at all to contain radioactive materials. few inches of lead, few feet of dirt.. seriously. A household microwave is far more scary.

    The problem with …
The problem with nuclear waste is the transportation to the storage facility. I find the idea of trucks and trains carrying this dangerous cargo all over the country very scary. Yesterday a big rig crashed off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland and landed in the bay. If the had contained nuclear waste it would have been devastating.

    Derlambic. I fail …
Derlambic. I fail to see how nuclear waste buried deep underground in monitored chambers could affect future generations. It’s a technology that will be used no matter what. It is unstoppable. So it’s better that we provide the best safety measures possible now to assure its containment. The future generations you speak of will still be using nuclear power anyway, but by then I assume they’ll be able to dispose of their waste in space.

    Nuclear waste …
Nuclear waste remains dangerous for 360000 years. How can you guarantee safe storage for such a long period? The coming 100000 generations will paying for the electricity for our large screen TV’s .

natemoore is a close minded individual that has made the country that i love what it is today there are millions of natemoores all over this country and refuse to leave their old comfortable ways with their big wheel trucks and their Bush/Chaney bumper stickers. natemoore doesnt change until he is affected directly, but until then natemoore is set in his ways no matter what bites him, or at least bites his dog.I bet untill this war started most natemoores didnt even know were Iraq was.comon!

    It’s amazing to me …
It’s amazing to me how many reasons people can try to come up with to prevent technology from further development.

Think about this hypothetical situation. What if we could get 50% of our electricity from wind power combined with use of solar panels? What is the real problem with that? Why do you try to stop it?

The only way to deny this new technology’s benefits is to claim that our use of fossil fuels has not affected the earth’s climate, and yes, that is a right wing partisan view.

I love how as you …
I love how as you tell us that it is wrong to lump environmentalists in with the “green religion”

But then, later on, anyone who doesn’t become more educated (and by educated, I am sure you mean “agrees with my point of view”)is a right wing partisan.

A million says your voting Obama!

    First of all, you …
First of all, you should abandon the idea that people who try to keep the environment clean belong to the “green religion.” That’s a pretty weak attempt to marginalize the debate but it’s really something that all people should be aware of.
Also, use of imagery such as “touching the papal robe” and things the “green religion” can do to “appease their gods” shows that you haven’t really been becoming educated to be less ignorant but rather to become more right wing partisan.
