This is the actual DVD I have. Please watch all 10 videos before trying this yourself and BE CAREFUL. TOOLS ARE DANGEROUS. WARNING WARNING DO AT YOUR OWN RISK:-) We use pine for our blades but there are better woods available. If you use Pine, seal with a water sealer then apply a clear gloss enamel spray. This basically waterproofs the blade.

DIY vertical wind turbine of the Savonius style.
Notable is that the largest part of this turbine is recycled materials (the PVC drums previously held Balsamic Vinegar from Italy and the generator is a recycled automotive alternator with magnets added).
Axle: 3 inch PVC piping from Home Depot
Bearings: 5 inch lazy suzan from Lowes.
Part 3 will cover connection to the battery bank with charge controller

vawt, new wind turbine

Just a little update on stuff I have being doing, I wanted to build a vawt that had loads of torque, so I could use it with my ametek with a belt attached I have learned how to weld by mr windmill man(Mr andy), nice bloke, and bought a second hand future energy alternator, after building a set of blades for another fella,but he then realised that his location wasn’t perfect.
