Alternate Energy Sources For Your Home

Written by admin on July 20, 2010 – 5:30 pm -

The amount of energy used in the home is at an all time high, and being consumed at an alarming rate. Many people use electricity more than they really need to, and the pay for it without complaining. Others think the cost of it is too high and they want to use it as little as possible. Either way, there are various alternative energy sources that you can use for your home. This can help slow down the depletion of natural resources and save you money.

As technology continues to change and move forward, consumers are being offered many alternatives. While many of the ideas that are being promoted today as alternative energy sources aren’t new, there are more ways to incorporate them than ever before. There is also a way to calculate the savings that these alternatives offer, and that is generally the motivating factor that causes people to move forward with implementing them.

You may have discovered windmills popping up in various locations, and that is due to the fact that wind energy is a great alternative to offering you power instead of using electricity. The windmill has come a long way from the days when it was used to grind up grain. They are more appreciated as a source of energy than anything else.

The energy from the sun, called solar energy, is a great alternative to electricity. You can easily install solar panels on your roof to collect energy. You will only use electricity as a back up source when all of the energy has been used up. The energy from a solar source is able to heat your home, dry your clothes, and run various household appliances. Many people are able to use solar power to supply all the energy they need for their entire home.

Of course this is a different type of solar energy than our parents used when they hung clothes outside on the line to dry. Yet the introduction of the clothes dryer is just one more device that uses up electricity.

Water can also be a valuable alternative source of energy. Hydropower is the ability to use water currents to operate generators. Hydropower is another concept that goes back to the era of grinding up grains into flour.

One type of alternative energy source that you may not be aware of is biogas. This is the process of decomposition of various materials. This is a great way to save money on the cost of heating your home, especially if you live in a cold weather area.

There are plenty of different resources for you to consider when it comes to alternative energy sources. They are a great way to save the resource of electricity as well as to save money on the cost of your energy sources. Take the time to find the one that is the most practical and cost effective for your home. Many people don’t live where they can install a windmill but they do live where the sun shines all day long.

We all need to do our part to make the environment cleaner, and you can do yours by choosing an alternative energy source. It is important for us to keep as many of the natural resources for future generations as possible. Once you compare the price of installing the alternative energy source to the amount of money you will save, you will see why it is a win/win situation for you personally and for the entire environment.

In the future, will the use of electricity be nearly gone? Will the new source energy be free?

Written by admin on February 19, 2010 – 6:01 am -

Ovens, water heaters, TV’s, computers, phones and all electronics require electricity. In the future, ovens won’t use electricity; instead, they will use other abundant sources of energy. The energy might be at no cost.

Will the source of energy be free unlike electricity from PG&E? If not, then why?

I’m sorry to sound condescending, but I’m not sure you understand electricity. Electricity is a form of energy. What I think you’re trying to ask is whether there will be a new way to generate electricity. The answer is probably yes.

We already have and use many ways to generate energy. Some newer examples are nuclear, hydroelectric, wind, and solar energy. They all generate electricity, and the only difference in the electricity they produce is the amount that can be made.

To answer your question, I predict that we are headed towards a cheaper, environmentally friendlier set of ways to get our electricity. Already, solar panels in houses and small ways to generate and even save one’s own electricity are in use in some houses. Some homes actually get paychecks from energy companies that they are connected to via grid, because they are making more electricity than they need, and the runoff goes into the energy grid. In the future, technologies will probably make this more common and easy. It may not be totally free, but it will be overall better.

Hope this helps.

What are some new and potentially useful alternative energy sources?

Written by admin on February 12, 2010 – 11:20 pm -

I’m looking for something besides the usual fuel cells, solar collectors, photovoltaic cells, waste-to-energy, hydro-electric, etc. I think I read somewhere about harnessing body heat for energy. Anyone know anything about that or can give me some links on that or on other developing technologies for alternative sources of energy away from gasoline and natural gas?
Wind mills is included in the "etc.".

The ground temperature several feet beneath your home is fairly constant at around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take a few degrees. Circulating water or some other liquid through this region and returning it to your house, delivers to you a source to heat or cool your home to 60 degrees, even if the outside temperature is -10 degrees, or +120 degrees. Now you have solved most of your heating/cooling problems, and all you need is to let the outside air raise the inside temperature from 60 to 74 degrees in the summer, and install a simple secondary heating system (enough to only raise the temperature about 14 degrees) in the winter. Added insulation will even reduce further the need for the winter heat supplement.

Earth4energy New Energy Source Review

Written by admin on February 12, 2010 – 6:31 pm -

Today, the world over, folk are looking for different sources of energy. This is because of 2 real main reasons. First, the first sources of energy are becoming more expensive by the second. Secondly, they are decreasing at a particularly fast rate. Almost all of the nations are busy scouting for renewable sources of energy, so that their increasing energy demands can be met. At the grassroots level also, the people are fighting to keep their energy bills down.

In such times, earth4energy comes as a lifesaver. This amazing invention by Michael Harvey is a wonderful new step in the humankind’s unending search for sources of energy. And in your own backyard too! Harvey’s plan involves drumming into the natural resources for energy. It comprises setting up solar cells and windmills at your house These devices will take care of all your energy wishes, and also in the midst, make rediculous cuts in your energy bill. This plan is ready to last a whole life, with an 1st investment cost as little as $200. In reality, earth4energy even claims to dump your energy bill completely.

The earth4energy is actually a product created by Harvey. It incorporates a video instruction kit and an instruction manual. The manual contains a plan to building a solar energy panel and wind mill using daily-use objects lying around your home. The kit shows the user ways to use the tools in order to form their own solar panels as well as wind mills under the budget of $ two hundred. Michael Harvey has guaranteed the language of the instruction manual and the pictures are easy to comprehend. He asserts that his buyers can either find the objects required for the build either in their own homes or at the local hardware stores.

The users can think about earth4energy as their ‘weekend projects’, where all they need to do is collect all the plant and follow the simple instructions to set up their own sources of backup energy. Earth4energy products claim to supply more than one thousand watts of power just by using the solar cells only. The clients of this product can even sell the spare energy right back to the power firms and earn some money in the process! For earth4energy patrons across the globe, this has indeed proved to be a large amount. Solar electricity and wind mills systems set up by professional firms usually take an investment of $ three thousand or more. The return on this investment is plain only after some years. However, with the earth4energy, the results will be immediate.

Michael Harvey has received plenty of letters from all over the world, whereby folk are thanking him for introducing them to the fascinations of wind and wind energy. In the opinion of some of the testimonials received by him, people as far off as England and Australia have written to say that they adored the earth4energy DIY product kit and that it has made a big difference in satisfying their energy demands and the costs incurred on it.

Solar Power – The New Energy Source

Written by admin on February 9, 2010 – 8:00 am -

If you want to go to solar power for your home or business then now may be the time to do it. Though you will probably still have quite a bit of out of pocket expense, if you live in the United States then you will most likely qualify for tax incentives to offset some of your cost. You should keep in mind that these systems are expensive but they may save you a lot of money as well.

A special system can be installed that will convert sunlight to solar power and run the electrical devices in your home or business. You will need a special box that will hook up to your current system as well as solar panels. These items may need to be installed by professionals for safety reasons. You local power company will need to approve and help with this as well.

Some companies sell do it yourself kits and videos. To me these seem more suited to science projects. As much as I would like to try these I am also very skeptical. Anytime electricity is involved there is a certain amount of risk. I have a hard time believing I could set up a system like this without starting a fire or getting electrocuted.

I have no doubt that solar energy is the way to go if you can. Not only can this cut your electric bill but it is also earth friendly. In years to come we may well see the end of fossil fuel use in countries around the world. This fuel simply can’t last forever and alternatives must be found.

Solar energy can be used with other energy sources to make sure you always have enough energy to run your home or business. Your regular power supply is still hooked up even with the solar power supply. This means that even if there is no sun for weeks at a time you can still have power you need.

At least one site did mention the need for permits. This may be a very complex project and you will need to do some research before trying any do it yourself kits. There are special boxes needed and it sounds fairly complex.

Some of the products that run on solar power are nice and you don’t need a special system installed. The outdoor lights look really great. They are easy to install and no cords to run or trip over. The cars are still a long way from being marketable though.

Keep in mind that electricity of any kind can be dangerous. Check all local laws and follow any safety instructions before you try to do any electrical work on your own. Professional advice may be helpful. If you know an electrician then they may be willing to give free advice on this matter.

Prices will probably come down in coming years. If you can’t afford this now then you may be able to before long. Solar power will most likely be around for a very long time to come and one day everything may be run at least in part by this energy source.

Solar power provides an efficient and environmentally friendly source for energy. In order to promote a greener society, wind power should also be considered as an alternative option.

what is green power Do you believe that we need to find alternate, environmentally friendly energy sources?

Written by admin on February 5, 2010 – 9:59 pm -

How many possible “green power” options did you find in your research?
What were the options you found?
Are any of these options being used today?
Which, if any, do you feel are viable energy sources for the future? Why?
Which, if any, do you feel are not viable energy sources for the future? Why?

Green power usually refers to programs run by your utility. When you sign up the utility agrees to buy clean/renewable energy in the amount that you use. My utility gets it’s green power from a combo of wind, solar, hydro and geothermal. I pay a little more, but I like the idea of supporting the increase in clean energy.

Why can’t we replace our coal burning and nuclear power plants with renewable energy sources?

Written by admin on February 3, 2010 – 1:16 pm -

For example we have enough wind power in the United States to replace all of the fossil fuel and nuclear power sources in the United States.

Athough wind does not always blow when you need it, it would seem that in a power grid you will always have wind blowing somewhere to put electricity into the grid.

The cost of wind power at 4 cents per kilowatt hour is competitive with the cost of electricity generated by coal and nuclear energy and less than the cost of generating electricity using natural gas.

What is preventing us from replacing our fossil fuel power plants and our nuclear power plants with electricity from renewable non carbon sources?

We can replace coal, and other fossil fuels.

We can’t do it without using nuclear right now, at any reasonable cost. The cost you cite may be theoretically possible, but present wind farms can’t match that. One problem is that you need a LOT of excess capacity to cope with no wind some places sometimes.

We can build nuclear power plants that are safe and safe from terrorism. We can dispose of the waste safely, it’s just a political problem to designate a site.

A reasonable plan is to press ahead on all three fronts; nuclear, solar, and wind. The goal would be to run the nuclear plants for one "lifetime" (30-50 years) and then replace them with improved wind and solar as they wear out.

Your idea is good, but we need nuclear to make the transition away from fossil fuels right now.

What are some sites that show statistics for fossil fuels/renewable energy sources?

Written by admin on January 29, 2010 – 3:30 pm -

I’m looking for sites that contain statistics, charts, diagrams of how much fossil fuels countries use, and how much progress they’ve made in using renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear power.

Here’s a site, but it only shows statistics for US, the site has many pie charts:

1.What energy sources, if any, cannot be traced to sunlight falling on the earth?

Written by admin on January 25, 2010 – 6:33 am -

2. What are some of the disadvantages that have kept renewable energy sources from supplying more than a small fraction of the world’s energy?
3. when two objects attract each other electrically, must both of them be charged?
4. When two objects repel each other electrically, must both of them be charged?
5. What reasons might be there for the universal belief among scientists that there are only two kinds of electric charge?

Please help me with this…..i badly needed your help.
If possible please answer all the questions with explanations..
May God bless us all. Happy New Year

1. Geothermal energy based on the decay of radioactive isotopes within the core of the earth.
2. The issues are specific to the sources of the renewable energy. There is no general answer to this.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.
5. That is all that has been found, and two charge types are all that are needed for electromagnetic phenomena.
