Shouldn’t we pursue the resources available to us while advancing new energy technologies?
Written by admin on February 19, 2010 – 6:01 am -I am all about driving fuel effecient cars and doing away with huge SUVs for family use. However, if we continue to tie our hands while other countries maximize their energy resources, aren’t we signing our own death warrant?
We have oil that the government won’t let us get to…
We have areas to put windmill farms and they are being blocked.
We have cleaner burning coal that we are not allowed to extract….
Natural gas…..
Oil Shale….
Can we go on…?
I know that some of these things can’t be harvested right now…and may take years. But if we go by that thinking, nothing we do now is going to help the environment, either…so why bother?
Drill, explore, research…and do so responsibly.
Yes we should. However, the Environmentalist Wacko’s don’t agree. They want us to go ‘cold turkey’ and stop using fossil fuels today. And, magically, create all the alternatives they like.
Part of their plan is to force this to happen. That is why they block lots of stuff.

Should the US take a "moonshot" approach to non-gasoline energy technologies?
Written by admin on February 17, 2010 – 8:46 am -… to bring them to market as soon as possible?
This suggestion was made my Senator Byron Dorgan (D of South Dakota, I think).
We got a man to the moon in a decade. Why not non-oil based energy infrastructure? Hydrogen, hybrid, electric cars, wind, solar, oceanic motion, and nuclear…
Stop bitching about oil prices. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER
Hi Zucchini, my feeling is, it will, but only if we allow it. And we can disallow it November during elections.
That’s a great idea, but won’t it be sabotaged by the oil companies??

What is status of research in wind Energy Technology at present?
Written by admin on February 15, 2010 – 10:36 am -What kind of research is possible in wind Energy if person is from ELectrical
right now the focus is on the aerodynamics and making them more efficient, there is also quite a bit of study going into the placement or trying to find the windiest places on earth, the turbines also seem to be killing bats and birds so they’re trying to solve that problem.

what is the final form of energy that renders all energy transformation technologies less than 100% efficient?
Written by admin on February 12, 2010 – 11:20 pm -
Heat, and every addition to the heat of a system reduces the potential energy drop for all subsequent processes.

Whats your opinion on the technologies that surrounds us and the amount of energy use from those technologies?
Written by admin on February 5, 2010 – 9:59 pm -just your opinion about the waste of energy use today =]
technology is good. We do use a lot of energy. I wouldn’t call it a waste, not most of it anyway.
There is some wasteful stuff. People drive bigger, heaver cars then they need to get them around, especially for short distance, low speed stuff. And a lot of times there’s an automated system doing a job that could just as easily be done by human power, like automatic doors, escalators, that kind of thing.
Mostly we just need to provide the amount of power the civilization uses, in clean renewable ways.

Why have alternative energy storage technologies been developed?
Written by admin on February 3, 2010 – 1:16 pm -
Occasionally we need a load of extra power – e.g. when everyone turns on the kettle at half time during a football match. With energy storage systems, it’s possible to store some energy and release it at exactly the time it is needed, and to stop releasing it when it isn’t needed anymore. If we didn’t do this, we’d have to run an extra power station all the time "just in case" there was a sudden demand. If you don’t provide enough electricity when there is a sudden demand, then the electricity literally runs out, and all the lights etc. switch off.
Things like dinorwig in wales (pumped storage system) http://www.fhc.co.uk/dinorwig.htm have been developed so that they can provide extra energy when there is a sudden demand.

Is greed stifling the development of environmentally friendly technologies ?
Written by admin on January 29, 2010 – 3:30 pm -While you may see commercials from oil companies and big corporations etc telling you how much they are investing in green technologies are they just a ploy to pacify the public?.
Do you think in reality they are just spending a very tiny amount of there vast profits on token research to keep the environmentalists quiet while they carry on business as usual!.
After all there profits will slump if energy saving technologies become the mainstream big business will not profit from less consumption by the public will the greedy oil barons etc let this happen?
You see, I’ve had the same thought, but I don’t think that a lot of alternative energies are as straightforward as we think. If these people were so greedy and could invest in an energy technology that was truly long lasting and would set them apart from the industry, I think someone would have started producing them commercially. In reality, I think it is more likely that these technologies are not sure fire things which is why we are seeing rather little investment.

What is the more important issue: Reducing Co2 emissions OR Energy independence from Arab oil?
Written by admin on January 25, 2010 – 6:33 am -Advanced energy technolgy and alternative energy technology can solve these problems. But it will cost money and changes in our daily life style. Which one are your willing to make a financial sacrifice and lifestyle commitment for? Environment or energy independence?
You can have both. Reducing CO2 emissions can be done by reducing consumption, which means not having to buy as much oil which means less dependence. There are all kinds of ways to reduce that simply require some intelligence and a little investment.
